Since writing the first
MTBB, Linda Skerritt has
been busy working on the
UK BGV Club committee. She
is now Secretary. Projects
have included preparing
submissions for approval by
the club membership, then
the KC, for the granting of
the final GBGV breed
standard and revision of the
PBGV one. She is also an
active member of the BGV
Club's Health and Judges
Sub-Committees.

Linda judges and shows
abroad. Spring 2006 saw
her judging Regular Classes
at the PBGVCA National,
Sacramento. And, in the
summer, with daughter
Jenna, she took four PBGVs
to Denmark to show,
returning with two Danish
champions. In 2007, after
going to the PBGVCA
National in Nashville, she
presided over the
basset
breeds at the Very Special
Show in Denmark and
awarded the Very Special
Cup. 2008 sees an
appointment judging Bassets
in Australia.

Monkhams PBGVs continue to
win well both in England and
countries abroad, having
achieved Top PBGV Holland
and Top PBGV Denmark, a
regular Group-winner in
America and the youngest to
win a BISS and other top
awards. Other champion
youngsters are winning well
in Australia and Germany.

At home success continues in
the ring. At the Club Show
2005 Monkhams did the
double by winning Best Dog,
Best Bitch and BISS over
the GBGV. Two Monkhams of
late have gained Champion
status, a further two gained
their Show Certificates of
Merit and seven others are
multiple Challenge and
Reserve Challenge
Certificate winners.
"Meet the Basset Breeds"
was the brainchild of
prominent PBGV breeder/
exhibitor Gavin Robertson
who, in 2003, co-erced
Linda Skerritt into
writing the first book
which appeared in print
early in 2004. His
background assistance
helped the production of
what was to become a
highly successful
publication.

In the last two years,
PBGVs owned or bred by
Gavin, with wife Sara,
have been at the
forefront – from the
top-winning Ch/Am Ch
Afterglow Woody
Woodpecker, who became
#1 Hound in the States,
to the UK breed
record-holder Ch
Willowbrae Amazing
Grace, who notched up an
amazing 18 CCs.

In 2005, the home-bred
Ch Soletrader My
Aphrodisiac brought the
breed once more to the
fore by winning several
Hound Groups at
Championship Shows and,
in 2006, she became the
UK's #1 Hound. Despite
taking time off for
maternal duties, she was
the UK's Top PBGV 2007.

Gavin has now
bred/owned
Group-winning PBGVs in
12 countries and 3
continents.

He is an active UK BGV
Club committee member, is
currently Vice-Chairman
and a member of the
Health and Judges Sub-
Committees. When not in
the ring himself, he
judges Hound, Utility and
Gundog breeds at
championship show level
and, like Linda, often
judges abroad.
